S Kalimantan, LIPI cooperate in forestry

MARTAPURA, S Kalimantan: The South Kalimantan Provincial Government has established a forestry cooperation with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“The signing of the cooperation agreement was witnessed by Governor H. Sahbirin Noor in the series of simultaneous planting for the river basin – forest area utilization permits (DAS IPPKH) rehabilitation,” said Head of Forestry Agency Hanif Faisol Nurafiq in Sultan Adam Public Forest Park, Wednesday (18/4).

According to him, the cooperation is in terms of research and development of sustainable forest in Sultan Adam Public Forest Park.

“This cooperation is a follow up of the MoU between the governor and the Head of LIPI in 2016,” he said.

Besides signing the cooperation with LIPI, he said, the provincial government also signed a cooperation with the Hall of Dipterocarps in the transfer of Dipterocarp planting technology in three provinces.

Special for South Kalimantan, he explained, is in the form of miniature tropical rain, the development of a meranti forest management unit model and Sultan Adam Public Forest Park.
