PARINGIN, S Kalimantan: Pitap dam in Balangan District is recommended to be a recreational resort for local residents, AntaranewsKalsel reported.
The Head of Kalimantan River Hall (BWS) II Dwi Purwantoro said, in addition to functioning as a farming irrigation channel in several
subdistricts in Balangan, the community can also use it to relax and recreate with the family.
“So far, the dam’s function is only to be seen, as if it is dead, so we plan to make it look alive as a place of recreation, not just Pitap dam, but also the Amandit dam, and Batang Alai dam,” he said.
“Please government of Balangan do the study and design, then submit to BWS Kalimantan II, we will facilitate,” he continued when soft launching Running Test of irrigation channel of Pitap, Wednesday (18/4).
He added that his party will also make washing facilities for the residents so that residents can use the water directly in the irrigation channel to wash.
However, he reminded, the parents should supervise their children playing around irrigation canals to prevent undesirable things from happening.
