S’wak PAS announces candidates for GE14

KUCHING: Sarawak Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) today announced two new faces for this upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).

They are 31-year-old Malaysia Pasti Management Institute Sarawak director Hamdan Sani as the candidate for Petra Jaya parliamentary seat; and agropreneur Zulaihi Bakar, 49, for the Sibuti seat.

The announcement was made by PAS Central Working Committee member cum Sarawak PAS secretary Mukhtar Suhaili at the Sarawak Pas Office in Matang here.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, its Central Election director general Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Sarawak PAS Commissioner Jofrie Jaraiee were present.

Also announced in the event were candidates for three parliamentary seats of Kota Samarahan, Batang Sadong, and Batang Lupar.

Entrepreneur Zulkipli Ramzi, 40, has been named the candidate for Kota Samarahan seat while teacher Asan Singkro, 55, is set to contest in Batang Sadong seat.

The Batang Lupar seat will be contested by Ustaz Wan Abdillah Wan Ahmad, 46, who is also an entrepreneur.

For the record, in the last GE13, Sarawak PAS contested five parliamentary seats namely Kota Samarahan, Batang Sadong, Tanjung Manis, Igan and Sibuti but its candidates were defeated in all.

In thia GE14, PAS is expected to lock horns with Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Amanah Negara of Pakatan Harapan in Samarahan, Batang Lupar and Batang Sadong and face BN and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidates in the Petra Jaya and Sibuti seats.

All the seats are BN strongholds, represented by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) before the dissolution of the 13th Parliament.
