KUCHING: All parties in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) have come to a concord that once a parliamentary or state constituency is allocated to a particular party, it is the decision of that party to decide on their choice of candidate to contest that particular area.

Highlighting this, PH Sarawak chairman and also the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen have expressed his regret over the action of some of their party members in Miri who had protested against the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR)’s choice of candidate for Miri for the 14th General Election (GE14).

“Such act of individual members is contrary to the decision of party and against the general interest of Pakatan Harapan to fight Barisan Nasional (BN),” he said in a press statement today.

DAP Sarawak, he said, will take disciplinary action against the members involved and a full investigation will be carried out.

“We thus reaffirm and reiterate our support for the candidate chosen by PKR Sarawak in Miri,” he assured.

“We also urge all party members to stand behind the PH’s goal to topple the kleptocratic BN government in this general election as this is the best chance for a change of government in Malaysia,” he concluded.
