SIBU: A total of 100 logs were seized in two separate operations in Selangau by the enforcement team from Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), thanks to a public tip-off.

The enforcement team from SFC Sibu Regional Office was dispatched to a location at Jalan Oya/Stapang, Selangau upon receiving information on Wednesday.

The team found 40 pieces of illegal logs at Sungai Alat and subsequently found another 60 logs near Sungai Alat Bridge.

“The logs of various sizes and species are believed to be from illegal logging at the forest nearby. None of the logs bear any official markings,” the statement said.

Both cases have been reported to the police station and have been handed over to State Forest Department for further investigation.
