A toddler was found drowned after falling into the water from her family’s house at Rumah Sengat, Batu Lapan in Jalan Kubong Limbang yesterday.
MIRI: A toddler was found drowned after falling into the water from her family’s house at Rumah Sengat, Batu Lapan in Jalan Kubong Limbang at around 3.30pm yesterday.
Limbang police chief, Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai who confirmed the incident, noted that the body of the toddler was found underneath the plank walks in front of the house.
“The toddler had just learnt to crawl. She was believed to have crawled towards the main door and fell from the house which was built on stilts into the water,” he said.
A search and rescue operation (SAR) was mounted soon after her parents realised her dissappearance.
The SAR operation which also participated by the villagers later discovered the toddler’s body at around 5.30pm.
“Upon discovering the toddler, the family rushed her to hospital but was later pronounced dead around 6.50pm,” Bukhori said.
Police have classified the case as sudden death.
