Works to upgrade Tebedu Immigration Complex into ICQS to start July 1

TEBEDU: Works to upgrade the present Tebedu Immigration Complex into an Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex will start on July 1, this year.

According to Serian incumbent Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem with the works starting soon, he is looking forward to see Tebedu becoming a busy place frequently visited by tourists again, just like it was before the year 2004.

Speaking during his ministry’s ‘Program Mesra Bersama Masyarakat’ event at the Tebedu Community Hall today, he claimed that tourist are currently more attracted to visit Serikin in Bau district.

“Once the Tebedu ICQS is complete, things will change for Tebedu soon and Tebedu will once again be a popular tourist destination – maybe more popular than Serikin,” he added.

The government has planned to create a trade zone in Tebedu, slated for the economic benefits of the people living in both sides of Borneo.

Also present during the ceremony was received Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) chief executive Datuk Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.
