SARIKEI: This parliamentary constituency is expected to have a three-cornered fight in this May 9 election.

It is likely that Barisan Nasional (BN) would field a candidate from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP). BN Sarawak announces its candidates for the parliamentary election today.

Meanwhile, Democratic Action Party (DAP) has decided to re-nominate Andrew Wong Ling Biu for the seat.

The third contender is expected to come from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK).

According to PBK Sarikei chairman Wong Ching King, it was decided during the party’s top leadership meeting recently that it would contest for the seat only for this time around.

“The PBK has endorsed me as its candidate (for Sarikei),” he told reporters after obtaining the nomination form at the Resident’s Office here yesterday.

Former teacher Ching King, 52, was DAP Sarikei secretary before joining PBK in 2016.

He contested in the 2016 state election as an Independent candidate for Repok, where he faced BN’s Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii who is the present assemblyman, and DAP’s Yong Siew Wei.
