KUCHING: Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce and United People’s Party (UPP) president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh will step down after the current term.
This was announced today by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who said the state Barisan Nasional (BN) had named Wong’s son Andrew as the BN candidate for Sibu.
Abang Johari said Andrew had already joined as a member of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP).
He stressed that all the BN candidates announced by him are members of state BN component parties.
“I must express my appreciation to both leaders of SUPP and UPP for coming to a single platform,” he said at a press conference at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here.
