KUALA KRAI: The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) is assisting the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to track down two suspects who shot dead Dr Fadi Mohammed Al Batsh, an imam and lecturer from Palestine last Saturday.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said both suspects involved in the murder case must be brought to justice.

“We will not give concessions to anyone who violated the law in this country and take advantage of this incident.

“Do not sensationalise this incident and let PDRM investigate,” he told reporters after a ‘Leader With The People’ programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Laloh, here yesterday.

Also present was Kuala Krai Umno division chief Datuk Ramzi Ab Rahman who was nominated as BN candidate for the Kuala Krai parliamentary constituency in the 14th General Election on May 9.

In the meantime, Hishammuddin insisted that the murder incident did not affect the country’s security which was at its best.

“Our police and armed forces have carried out their duties very well over the years in denying the Daesh terrorists’ menace, which clearly threatened national security,” he said.

Dr Fadi, an electrical engineering lecturer, was shot dead outside Idaman Puteri condominium in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur while walking to Surau Medan Idaman for a dawn prayer at about 6am on Saturday.

Two men were said to be waiting for the victim before releasing 10 shots to gun down the 35-year-old man. — Bernama
