KUALA LUMPUR: The Embassy of Palestine in Kuala Lumpur will continue to make every effort to bring home to Gaza the remains of Dr Fadi Mohammed Al Batsh, despite the objections being raised by Israel.

Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia, Datuk Dr Anwar H. Al Agha said his country is not perturbed by the obstacles raised by Israel and the reports coming out from the country’s media.

Israel is seeking to prevent the body of Dr Fadi, a Palestinian lecturer murdered here on Saturday, from being brought back to Gaza.

“Israel has been always on the attack and has always sought the help of other parties to fight Palestine,” Anwar said.

“The repatriation process for the slain man is dependent only on several specific processes and approval from Egypt through its embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Palestine Embassy in Cairo, Egypt,” he told Bernama after an interview with Bernama Radio here Tuesday.

Anwar added that all costs involved in the repatriation will be borne by Palestine President, Mahmoud Abbas including the return of the lecturer’s family members to Gaza.

He said the embassy was also confident of getting the approvals soon and will follow up on the matter.

On Monday, Israel’s Defence Minister, Avigdor Lieberman asked Egypt not to
allow the return of the remains of Fadi, who was a Hamas member, to Gaza.

Avigdor said Israel will not allow the return of the lecturer’s body home until Hamas agrees to return the remains of two Israeli soldiers and send back two Israeli citizens detained by Hamas. — Bernama
