PETALING JAYA: First City University College recently held its annual ‘Stardust Diploma Showcase’ for its Diploma in Interactive Design and Interior Design at its modern urban campus in Bandar Utama.

Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mak Chai said the Stardust exhibition presents the achievements of students to industry.

The event saw wearable works of art presented by Diploma in Interactive Design students as a part of their syllabus, including 13 pairs of canvas shoes designed, painted, and eye-catchingly displayed.

The three-day public exhibition featured 35 outstanding creations produced by art and design diploma students, exploring the influence of their experiences and skills developed over their final year project.

The 14-week ‘LIVE’ projects proposed by a creative and communications industry partner were accomplished successfully and also wowed industry partners and other attendees.

Students, parents, potential employers, and industry partners attended the exhibition.

At the event, the art and design diploma students’ ingenious creations comprised various brands from carbonated beverage, to bread spread, cosmetics, and confectionery that served as a focal point and platform at the exhibition, as graduating students showed their portfolios to parents, friends, the public, and potential employers.

Diploma in Interior Design student Wong Kai Ying presented a pottery store and service concept display.

“It was a great experience organising this event and working together as a group.

“And I have interest in making pottery art but here in Malaysia there aren’t many pottery stores or services for people to try out and I feel our country should have more pottery stores for people to understand it better,” she said in a press release yesterday.
