KUCHING: The Immigration Department will create three more special awards to recognise the contribution from its staff, in addition to the current ‘Service Excellence Award’ (APC).

Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said these new awards would be presented during the Immigration Day event this Dec 1.

According to him, the ‘Integrity Award’, ‘Professional Award’ and ‘Courtesy Award’ would add to the current ‘Special Director-General Award’.

Moreover, he said the introduction of these awards would compensate the limited quota for Sarawak recipients of the APCs.

“Out of the present 15,000 (Immigration) staff, the fixed total quota for APC recipients from Sarawak is only 113 – more should get it (the recognition) and this quota is inadequate,” he spoke at Immigration Excellence Service Award for Sarawak Zone 2017 at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Sarawak here yesterday, where Immigration deputy director-general (management) Dato Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman and Immigration Sarawak director Ken Leben were also present.

Adding on, Mustafar believed that the introduction of these three awards would serve as the catalyst for the department personnel to strive for excellence not only in their duties, but also their services to the community.
