KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup will not be contesting in the 14th general election.

The incumbent for Pensiangan parliamentary seat is making way for his son, Arthur J Kurup to contest and represent Barisan Nasional (BN) in the election which will be held on May 9.

Kurup, a senior politician said putting Arthur as the Pensiangan candidate was necessary as there is a need to have young capable leaders as they are future leaders of the country.

“We have to give them a chance (and) there are quite a number of new young leaders so it is better that they determine their destiny,” he said when met after the announcement of BN Sabah candidates by the state Liaison Chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman.

Arthur, 36 is one of the new 24 new faces in the line up.
