LIMBANG: A woman has been left traumatised after she is said to have been assaulted and threatened by her boyfriend.

It is said that she managed to escape from a shared lodging house at Lubok Lalang Road near here on Monday.

Limbang District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the woman, 36 from Rumah Sintau, Lubok Kepayang, had argued with her Indonesian boyfriend at the lodging house around 11pm.

“During the incident, the man is said to have strangled her and later, he wielded a ‘parang’ (machete) and used it to threaten her.

“The victim eventually managed to escape to her aunt’s house nearby. However on Tuesday afternoon, she faced the same situation. It is believed that her boyfriend was jealous of her, suspecting that she was still in contact with her former boyfriend,” he told reporters yesterday.

Mohd Bukhori said after the alleged attack, the woman went to Limbang Hospital to receive treatment.

“Police have identified her boyfriend and are searching for him,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
