Second suspect wanted concerning convenience store robbery cases arrested

KUCHING: A second suspect wanted in connection with robbery cases involving 24-hour convenience stores in the city was arrested at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) today.

State CID chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the suspect; a 24-year-old man was picked up by the state police headquarters D9 team, upon his arrival from Kota Kinabalu at 12.45pm.

Dev Kumar added that the police were informed in advance that the suspect would surrender himself at KIA accompanied by his lawyer.

“The suspect will be brought to Kuching Magistrates Court tomorrow morning for remand application,” Dev Kumar said in a statement.

On Friday, state police have announced the arrest of a suspect suspected to be involved in 15 cases of a 24-hour convenience store around Kuching and Padawan reported this year.

Police have also posted a picture of a 24-year-old suspect who is wanted, to facilitate investigate to the case.

Following the publication of the suspect’s image, efforts and advise have been made for the suspect to surrender.
