Raid leads to fisherman’s arrest for drugs

LIMBANG: A fisherman was held for drug possession after he was found with 31 packets of Syabu during a police raid.

District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the 40-year-old from Kampung Patiambun was arrested around 11.30am on Sunday following a tip-off.

“An inspection at the rear of the suspect’s house found 31 packets of Syabu hidden in a bush. The suspect was also subjected to a urine test which found him to be negative for drugs,” he told reporters here yesterday.

He said the seized drugs weighed approximately 9.24 grammes, and had a street value of RM1,600. The suspect is now under police custody to facilitate investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
