Local beauties to vie for Cats Kumang Gawai 2018 title

The 10 finalists of Cats Kumang Gawai 2018 who are set to battle it out for the title at CityOne Megamall this May 12.

KUCHING: The Cats Kumang Gawai (CKG) 2018 pageant will see 10 finalists battle it out for the title at CityOne Megamall here on May 12.

The finalists, who represent various ethnic groups throughout the Sarawak, are Jaya Shanthi Punniyamoorthy, 21, Allivia Anthony Lawan, 18, Shelma Sharon Anthony James, 21, Nur Azreen Natasha Abu, 19, Beatrice Edward, 21, Venneryna Jellya Nix, 22, Rysheera Genut Ricky, 24, Carolyne Kamba, 21, Jesse Diana Jantai, 20, and Farahana Mohd Firdaus, 19.

One of the finalists, Jaya Shanti, is a student who hails from Kuching.

Of Iban and Indian parentage, she is proud to represent her unique mix of ethnicity and culture and wishes to showcase them at CKG 2018.

As for Farahana, a student from Sri Aman, she said joining the beauty pageant had helped her broaden her views.

Prior to the finale, the finalists took part in various activities including doing social work at Rumah Panjang Kampung Keniong Lama in Simunjan.

The winner of CKG 2018 will receive RM5,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively.
