Church receives RM50,000 fund under Unit for Other Religions

KAPIT: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas on Sunday presented a government grant amounting to RM50,000 to St. Herbert Catholic Church in Song under the Unit for Other Religions.

The cheque was received by St. Herbert Church Parish Council chairman Leo Sarawak.

The presentation was held to coincide with the ‘Leaders meet the people’ session held at Rumah Robert Ngumbang at Nanga Sebatu, Batang Rajang near here.

Uggah who is the Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development also announced grants of RM200,000 for the 39-door Rumah Lorrie @ Gembar Lebuk at Nanga Ibau Tengah, Batang Rajang which was razed by fire on April 21 this year, RM50,000 to the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Robert and another RM10,000.00 for its Women Bureau.

He also allocated RM20,000 to improve a Catholic chapel in the longhouse.

Among those present at the function were the BN-PBB candidate for Kapit Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi who is also the Deputy Minister for Rural and Regional Development, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Walikota of Kapit District Council Philimon Nuing, community leaders and members of the state BN components.
