PETALING JAYA: Local actor and film director Datuk Farid Kamil Zahari may submit a representation to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for the six charges against him to be dropped.

His counsel Faizul Mohd Nasir said this when the cases were brought for mention at two separate magistrate’s courts here yesterday. The lawyer also applied for a new mention date as the accused had to undergo knee surgery at a hospital in Damansara on May 15.

Deputy public prosecutor Mary Phoon Keat Mee and Fazeedah Faik did not object to the application and both magistrate Salamiah Salleh and Nor Ariffin Hisham fixed June 26 for next mention respectively.

Farid Kamil, 37, wearing white long sleeve shirt and blue jeans arrived at the court premises around 9.30am with his manager and some friends.

On Jan 16, he claimed trial to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to a private company accounts executive, Ashraf Ahmad, 35, and police constable Muhammad Nizam Jamaluddin, 24.

He also denied the third charge of using criminal force on Muhammad Nizam to obstruct the civil servant from carrying out his duty, and the fourth charge of insolent behaviour towards the policeman. — Bernama
