JDT remains as leader in Super League

KUALA LUMPUR: Super league defending champion, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT)  retained its position as the league leader despite being held to a 2-2 draw against Selangor at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras, here Friday night.

The draw resulted in the Southern Tiger squad collecting 25 points after playing 10 matches so far.

In the match in Cheras, Argentinian import, Gonzalo Cabrera put JDT ahead as early as in the second minute before the Red Giant recovered to score two goals through Saiful Ridzuwan Selamat in the 14th minute and Spanish import, Rufino Segovia del Burgo, who scored two minutes later.

The new import from France, Harry Novillo ensured that the Southern Tiger squad collected one point through the equaliser in the 67th minute.

In another Super League match, Perak failed to capitalise on the home ground advantage after being held to a goalless draw by low-lying team, Melaka at the Perak Stadium, Ipoh.

Meanwhile, the unbeaten record of Premier League leader, Felda United was broken by Mifa after recording a comfortable 3-0 win over the homesters at Stadium Tun Abdul Razak, Jengka, Pahang.

The three goals by the visitors were contributed by K Satish in the eighth minute while the other two were scored by Liberian import, Kpah Sean Sherman in the 26th and 56th  minutes.

Misfortune continued to hit Felda United when its player, Wan Amirul Afiq Wan Abd Rahman was flashed the red card by referee Mohd Zohri Tajuddin for rough play against a player of the opposing team three minutes later.

In another Pemier League fixture, UKM FC and UiTM FC shared a point each after being held to a goalless draw at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium. — Bernama
