KOTA KINABALU: In the newly formed state cabinet, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has handsomely rewarded UPKO with two full ministerships.

UPKO acting president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (nominated assemblyman) was appointed Deputy Chief Minister and in charge of a newly named ministry, the Trade and Industries Ministry.

UPKO Komulakan chief Ewon Benedick was appointed Rural Development Minister.
UPKO was regarded as the ‘kingmaker’ because Madius brought the party to join Warisan almost immediately after the 14th general election results were announced.
