BINTULU: Eight exponents from Bintulu Smart Taekwondo Club (WTF) have been shortlisted by the Sarawak Taekwondo Association for the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2018 in Perak from Sept 12 to 22.

They are Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim, Nur Ifa Husna Saiful, Nur Humaira Abdul Karim, Augustines Rudi Grocer, Dayang Rasyidah Abang Kamaruddin, Aisyah Shahirah Abdul Razak, Marylyne Bungan Lian and Joseph Ungkah.

Four of them namely Nurul Hidayah, Nur Ifa Husna, Nur Humaira and Augustines are currently undergoing intensive training in Vietnam since February.

“They will be focusing on their training in Vietnam until September,” the club head instructor Pui Jak Joon told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Meanwhile, he said Dayang Rasyidah who had represented the Sarawak team in Sukma 2016 is in Chinese Taipei for training since February.

According to Pui, the final list of exponents from Sarawak to Sukma Perak has yet to be finalised.

“For the eight students from Bintulu, in case of injuries, they will be replaced by others, so there is no guarantee of their participation in the games.

“If they are not injured during this period and they continue to show good performance, I’m sure they will compete in Sukma this year,” he added.
