Shafie unveils his State Cabinet with four new ministries

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s 15th Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Shafie Apdal, unveiled his State Cabinet yesterday.

Serving as Deputy Chief Ministers are Upko president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, Sabah PKR chairwoman Christina Liew and Dato Haji Jaujan Sambakong from Parti Warisan Sabah.

In addition, Tangau was also appointed to head the newly established Trade and Industry Ministry, while Liew takes over as Tourism, Culture and Environment post, while Jaujan is the new Local Government and Housing Minister.

Shafie also introduced three other new ministries, namely, the Health and People’s Welfare Ministry, to be headed by DAP Sabah chairman Stephen Wong Tien Fatt; the Education and Innovation Ministry to be headed by Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob (Warisan Sindumin assemblyman); and the Law and Native Affairs Ministry to be headed by Datuk Hj Aidi Moktar (Warisan Pantai Manis assemblyman).

Meanwhile, Datuk Peter Anthony (Warisan Melalap assemblyman) is appointed the Infrastructure Development Minister; Tanjung Aru assemblyman Junz Wong as the Agriculture and Food Industry Minister; Ewon Benedick of UPKO (Kadamaian assemblyman) as the Rural Development Minister; and Poon Ming Fung @ Frankie of DAP Sabah as the Youth and Sports Minister.

Appointed as assistant ministers in the Chief Minister’s Department are Jimmy Wong (DAP Sri Tanjung assemblyman) and Arifin Asgali (Warisan Sekong assemblyman).

Kenny Chua, the PKR Inanam assemblyman, is appointed as the assistant minister of Finance; while Ben Chong (Warisan Tanjung Kapor assemblyman) and Azhar Datuk Matussin (Warisan Karambunai assemblyman) were appointed assistant ministers of Trade and Industry.

Warisan Tungku assemblyman Assaffal P. Alian is appointed as the assistant minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment; while Hiew Vun Zin (Warisan Karamunting assemblyman) is appointed as the assistant minister of Local Government and Housing.

Former Barisan Nasional member, Datuk Haji Abdul Muis Haji Picho, is appointed as the assistant minister of Infrastructure Development. Warisan Kunak assemblywoman Norazlinah Arif is appointed as the assistant minister of Health and People’s Welfare.

The new assistant minister of Agriculture and Food Industry is Dr  Daud Yusof (Warisan Bongawan assemblyman); while Jenifer Lasimbang (Warisan Moyog assemblywoman) and Mohammad Mohamarin (Warisan Banggi assemblyman) are the new assistant ministers of Education and Innovation.

Rasini Binkoutis @ Kautis (Warisan Liawan assemblyman) and Dumi Pg Masdal (Warisan Lahad Datu assemblyman) were appointed as assistant ministers of Rural Development; Uda Sulai (Warisan Petagas assemblyman) and Jannie Lasimbang (DAP Kapayan assemblywoman) were appointed as assistant ministers of Law and Native Affairs; while Arunarnsim Taib (Warisan Gum-Gum assemblyman) is appointed as the assistant minister of Youth and Sports.
