KUCHING: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen attributed Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s success in the recently-concluded general election to the party members and supporters.
“We owed you this victory. If not for our perseverance in the past we would not (have) made it. We cannot repay you all for all the contributions, help and support.
“To repay you all we have to doubly and triply work harder than before from now on. It is also not just for you but also for all Malaysians,” he said at the DAP Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday night.
In a night of jubilation and celebration, Chong, who is also state PH chairman, added to the excitement by recapping what had transpired since PH ousted the Barisan Nasional (BN) government on May 9.
“In just few days, we implemented what we promised to the people, (which is) abolishing Goods and Services Tax effective June 1, and to do an immediate investigation on the issue of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB),” he said.
Among those present were MP for Bandar Kuching Dr Kelvin Yii, MP for Mas Gading Mordi Bimol, Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei and Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong.
