KUCHING: Family members of the late Chung Soon Teck, who was allegedly killed by
Indonesian police, have lodged a formal complaint at the
Indonesian consulate here yesterday.

A closed-door meeting was held between representatives from the consulate and the deceased’s family members, who had earlier claimed Chung’s body at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) mortuary.

A statement issued by the family said they were instructed to lodge a complaint at the consulate here after they were denied access to Chung’s post-mortem report in Pontianak, Indonesia.

Prior to his death, 48-year-old Chung and three other friends were arrested at the Indonesian checkpoint for alleged involvement in drug smuggling.

However, the three friends were released on the same night by the authorities.

According to the statement, the Indonesian authorities claimed they were forced to shoot Chung – killing him – after he began acting aggressively while being transported to Pontianak through the Entikong border.
