The signboard is devoid of any portrait while the 1Malaysia logo is still visible at the Sibu Central Market.

SIBU: The giant portrait of two former leaders at Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here was taken down recently.

The portraits on the signboard were those of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem.

Policemen were seen removing the logo at the central police station here on Wednesday.

However, the 1Malaysia NegaraKu logo at the same venue, located at Sibu Central Market, was still intact as of press time yesterday.

A ‘tamu’ trader at the market said the signboard was now blank after the removal of the portraits. He said he did not realise that someone had taken it down.

It is understood that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had ordered the removal of the 1Malaysia logo, slogans and greetings after Pakatan Harapan formed the new government following its victory in the May 9 general election.

The police here have also taken down the 1Malaysia logo on their official vehicles.
