KLT’s QS students make site visit to high-rise building project

SIBU: A group of 18 Quantity Surveying (QS) students and two lecturers of Kolej Laila Taib (KLT) recently made an educational site visit to Hann’s Residence at Jalan Wong King Huo here.

The visit was in line with the college’s mission to enhance the quality of its QS programme.

A spokesman for KLT said the main objective of the site visit was to provide outdoor learning environment to the students to gain additional knowledge and experience about high-rise building construction.

Hann’s Residence is developed by Musyati Sdn Bhd involving a total of 416 residential units in two 18-storey blocks, 20 units of three-storey and six-storey commercial shops and a 48-room boutique hotel.

The residence includes a huge range of amenities for its residents such as rooftop badminton courts, gym facilities, infinity pool and sky lounges.

A Musyati Sdn Bhd project manager explained to the students on the construction sequences of various buildings elements.

He also showed the students the different stages of substructure and superstructure works of the projects that are still in progress.

The students had the experience of seeing for themselves the actual construction works from the site visit, an eye-opener for them to the real world of building construction.
