MCMC confirms sites unblocked

The two sites are now accessible.

KUCHING: Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) confirmed that certain websites, including Sarawak Report and, are no longer blocked.

In a statement that was published on its official Facebook page today, MCMC informed that there is no reason to block those sites now that reports on 1MDB have been made public.

It stressed that the decision to block any website was based on the country’s laws, with the Commission acting on complaints filed by the public.  The ban will be then reviewed and if the criteria to block a website are found to be no longer in line with current impact, the decision will also be reversed.

MCMC also said it had unblocked the website, which published live updates of the 14th general election results. It was blocked following complaints that it was publishing inaccurate information.
