KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai will have a cook off with celebrity MY FM DJ Tian Long at the Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu on May 21.

Promenade KK Sales and Marketing group director Anita Chung said the hotel had contacted Yeo and put him up to the challenge as he was known for his love for cooking.

She said the Mayor not only had delicious home cooking recipes but also made his own fruit jams at home, making him the right contender for the special cooking challenge this Monday.

Chung added judging the cook off would be celebrity Chef Ismail, whose signature dishes are served on top of over 200 lavish Ramadan Sungkai Buffet dishes at the Promenade Cafe this year.

Chef Ismail is expected to officially reveal his 17 Signature dishes on the same day alongside Promenade Cafe’s very own Signature Drink – Coconut Milkshake and Signature Dishes – ‘Ekor Asam Pedas ala Promenade’, ‘Udang Masak Sambal Petai’, ‘Kari Kepala Ikan’ – by Malay Food Sous Chef Mohd Firdaus Abdullah.

Besides the popular whole Roast Lamb, Promenade’s popular buffet features its existing International Buffet Dinner spread.

For patron’s convenience, the ‘Solat Sunat Terawih’ service has also been made available every evening at Teratai Room on the second floor of the hotel.

According to Hafizan Wong, the hotel’s Halal Dynasty Chinese Restaurant is also serving a choice of Sungkai set menu or diners can opt to order from the ala carte.

Premium Ramadan Desserts are back this year by popular demand. They are available throughout the month of Ramadan for takeaway or dine-in from 10.30am to 10.30pm at the Deli Corner.

On May 18, Promenade KK also shared the spirit of Ramadan in a heart-warming ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa Bersama Kanak-Kanak Rumah Anak Yatim (RAY) Tambunan dan Media’ at Promenade Café.

The event was attended by members from the media fraternity and 24 kids from RAY Tambunan, whose one-night stay with Buffet Sahur were hosted by the Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu.

The kids from RAY went for a comprehensive hotel educational tour with an objective to spur their interest in joining the hospitality industry once they are out in the workforce.

The brief tour, prior to their official check-in to their assigned rooms, comprised of the Front Office, Main Kitchen, Security, Engineering, Housekeeping, Pastry and Promenade Club Floor or Lounge.

Besides enjoying their stay at the Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu, the evening saw the orphans receiving a jar of cheerful Rainbow Cookies and ‘Duit Raya’ from Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu.
