100-year-old woman burnt to death in Ranau

Fire-fighters ready to lift the victim’s charred remains.

RANAU: A centennial woman was burnt to death after her wooden house was destroyed by fire at Kampung Lohan Ulu, in Ranau.

The charred remains of Piah bt Limbongot, 100, was found by Fire and Rescue personnel while carrying out investigation in the 2.40pm incident.

A spokesperson from the department also said a man, believed to be a relative of the victim, was given medical treatment after the latter sustained burns on his body.

A distress call was made to the Ranau Fire and Rescue station at 2.48pm and two fire engines with nine personnel rushed to the scene.

Fire-fighters managed to control the blaze by 3pm while the operation ended about an hour later.

The victim’s body has been handed to the police for further action.
