Fatimah hopes new Women, Welfare Ministry will continue federal support for S’wak

KUCHING: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah expressed hope that the federal Women and Welfare Ministry under Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will continue extending its support to Sarawak.

Fatimah congratulated Dr Wan Azizah on her appointments as Deputy Prime Minister and Women and Welfare Minister.

“In terms of target groups, objectives and functions, our ministries have many similarities. Difference is that we also have sections for Children Development and Community Wellbeing,” Fatimah told The Borneo Post.

She added that the state government used to receive an allocation from the previous federal government to help with monthly assistance for 56,424 elderly folk, single mothers, special needs individuals, bedridden patients and foster children.

“Other forms of assistance were for Community Based Rehabilitation (PDK), Senior Citizens Activity Centre (Pawe), Children’s Activity Centre (PAKK). It is my hope that the assistance will be continued.”
