KOTA KINABALU: There is no reason to set aside Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan as the Huguan Siou.

According to Infrastructure Minister, Datuk Peter Anthony, who was also the chairman of the State level Kaamatan’s Main Organising Committee (MOC), there was no one who could challenge Pairin’s position as the Huguan Siou.

He also cited that he considered himself unworthy to become the Huguan Siou and that he was also not interested to become one.

He said this in answer to allegations that have been made over the social media following his appointment as the Chairman of the State Level MOC.

He added that the old committees of the MOC have been retained and cited that the issue of culture should not be mixed with politics.

“Culture is not politics. The election is now the past,” he said.
