KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) has urged the authority to investigate an activist for slandering its party president.

A police report was lodged by STAR information chief Jeffrey Kumin, urging the authority to take stern action on the activist for the latter’s comment in his Facebook page, claiming that Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan was paid a certain sum of money to work for Barisan Nasional (BN) to form the state government just after the 14th General Election (GE14).

“His comment in his Facebook page is a complete lie and slander towards our president. We urged the police and relevant authorities to investigate so appropriate action will be taken,” he said when met outside the Menggatal police station.

Kumin said Jeffrey was only called by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in their investigation.

“MACC took his statement but till today, there is still no proof that Jeffrey is guilty of any wrongdoing,” he said.

MACC had on May 22, seized about RM80,000 in cash from Jeffrey’s home and called on the latter to be present at the headquarters to assist in their investigation in connection with the recently concluded GE14.
