MIRI: When it comes to eyeglass shops or optometry outlets, many people have the perception that these are places to get a new pair of glasses or contact lenses.

TruEye Optometrist, which held its opening ceremony at Bintang Megamall here yesterday, provides more than that.

Besides eyeglasses, the optical centre also offers professional eye services and exams like cataract and glaucoma screening, retinal screening, children and adult eye tests to detect problems like ‘lazy eyes,’ and squint eyes.

“We provide a more professional approach in optometry,” said its managing director Desmond Law.

A wide range of branded exclusive eyewear is available at TruEye Optometrist at Bintang Megamall.

Law is assisted by his daughter Jasmine who is a qualified optometrist – graduating from the United Kingdom – and who will be conducting eye exams for clients.

In addition, the optical centre also offers doctor referral services where if required, further treatment will be referred to doctors.

TruEye Optometrist is owned and operated by Des Optics Group, which has a total of nine optical centres and eyeglass shops in Miri.

The newly-opened outlet retails over 20 exclusive eyewear brands from Korea, Italy, Japan, France, Japan and the USA.

And in connection with its opening, the optical centre is having a promotion in which customers could get up to 40 per cent discount on frames and sunglasses. There are also discounts on prescription lenses.

Moreover, social media users who ‘like’ and ‘share’ its Facebook page could also receive free contact lenses.
