Robert in critical condition after falling 15-feet from parking structure

KUCHING: A man, affectionately known among the local community as Robert is in critical condition after police said he fell an estimated 15-feet from a parking structure of a shopping complex along Jalan Wan Alwi, here yesterday.

District police chief ACP Ng Ah Lek when contacted, said a team of police have visited the scene and interviewed the security personnel as part of their investigation.

“Based on the CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage, the victim known as Robert was lying on a cement beam of the entry and exit points to the basement car park and there was no struggle involved.

“It is believed that the victim had fallen 15-feet and that his belonging (an umbrella) was found on the cement beam,” he said.

Ng pointed out that passer-by came to Robert’s aid as they saw him bleeding from his head. When asked whether he was robbed, Robert remained mum and requested to be sent home.

They then contacted the ambulance at 4.32pm, which arrived at 4.45pm. Robert was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.

Robert has been warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since Saturday and has not regained consciousness due to head injuries. He also suffered cuts to his shoulders.

Ng added that doctor has confirmed that there was a sign indicating that Robert suffered a heart attack.
