KOTA KINABALU: Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) aims to take the East Malaysian tertiary education to a new level with its future purpose-built campus here, said its president Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok.

Tan said TAR UC Sabah Faculty Branch had nurtured and produced 1,440 skilled graduates in their respective fields since its inception in 2002.

“Moving forward, our Sabah Faculty Branch will soon have its own purpose-built campus in Kota Kinabalu which aims to provide Sabahans with more opportunity and greater access to TAR UC holistic education,” said Tan when delivering his key note address during the TAR UC Sabah Faculty Branch Convocation ceremony at a hotel here yesterday.

“Construction work is already under way since the ground-breaking ceremony on February 7, 2017 and the new six-acre campus on a piece of land at Alamesra, Kota Kinabalu is expected to be completed by 2019.

“It will be able to accommodate 3,000 students. The new campus is set to take the tertiary education in East Malaysia to a whole new level with its ultra-modern and sophisticated learning and recreational facilities,” he elaborated.

Tan said the new campus would offer Bachelor degrees and postgraduate programs in the fields of business, banking and finance, computing and information technology and hotel management upon completion.

Some 130 students graduated from their respective diploma programs in Business Studies for Accounting, Business Administration and Marketing, Banking and Finance, Science (Information System Engineering) and Hotel Management.

Faye Lim Fei Yii, Loh Liang Xing, Samuel Wong Kim Foong and Zion Tseu and Angela Voo Shiaw Khee graduated with flying colours in Business Studies (Accounting), Business Studies (Marketing), Science (Information Systems Engineering) and Hotel Management respectively.
