Maintenance worker charged with murder of three siblings

TELUK INTAN: A maintenance worker was charged with three counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder and voluntarily causing grievous hurt at two separate magistrate’s courts here yesterday.

In the first magistrate’s court, Shahrul Pitri Jusoh, 35, was charged with murdering Mohammad Faqih Zahirulhaq Mohd Fadzil, five, and his two younger siblings Nur Zia Fasihah, two, and Muhammad Firash Zafrill, three.

He was alleged to have committed the offences at Rumah Projek Bantuan Bina Rumah Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Perak in Kampung Sungai Haji Mohammad, Selekoh, Bagan Datuk between 2.30 pm and 2.40 pm on May 17.

However, no plea was recorded after the charges were read out to him before Magistrate Syahdatul Kamila Zakaria.

In another magistrate’s court, Shahrul Pitri pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder the siblings’ mother Zuraidah Mat Ali, 35; a religious teacher, Redhuan Embi, 32, and a Standard Four pupil, Nur Aina Umaira Subri, 10.

Shahrul Pitri was charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, and fine, upon conviction.

He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to the siblings’ eldest sister Nur Zuryn Fazira, nine, by using a machete.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to ten years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of such punishment.

The four offences were allegedly committed at the house and in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Haji Muhammad, Selekoh between 2.15 pm and 2.45 pm on the same day.

Shahrul Pitri was denied bail.
