KUALA LUMPUR: Nurul Izzah Anwar dismissed a news portal report that she would resign as the MP for Permatang Pauh to enable her father Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest the by-election and become an MP.

Nurul Izzah, who is a PKR vice-president, said the report was fake news.

“A very clear and obvious fake news. Do not entertain this fake news. If my father returns to the world of politics, he will definitely hold a press conference and announce the matter.

“I have a duty to fulfill for my constituents in Permatang Pauh. Today, I discussed the programme to combat drug abuse. Tomorrow and Sunday, I will be there for a post-flood programme and with regard to a pumphouse,” she said when approached by Bernama yesterday, after she had appeared as a guest on ‘The Nation’ programme of the Bernama News Channel TV station.

A portal, quoting a source in PKR, claimed that Nurul Izzah would resign as MP to enable Anwar to contest the by-election to be held after Aidilfitri. – Bernama
