Based on information from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba)’s operations centre gathered from a witness at the scene, a Proton Wira had earlier knocked into a Proton Exora before hurtling over to the opposite lane and crashed into a Toyota Camry.

Those killed were identified as the male driver of the Proton Wira, Bakie Ladin, aged 33, and two female passengers – Jeanety Liah Liana Lily, nine years old, and Sai Imong.

Another female passenger Lily Kawan, 42, sustained injuries.

Upon receiving a distress call at 1.47pm yesterday, seven firemen led by senior Bomba officer II Mamad Rhayi rushed to the scene.

They were later joined by another three personnel, headed by Tatau Bomba station chief Nazari Harun.

The operations commander reported that the four victims in the Proton Wira were pinned inside the car, while the driver and passenger of Toyota Camry only sustained external injuries and had been sent to the hospital by members of the public before the arrival of the Bomba team.

The report did not mention the passengers and driver of the Proton Exora, who most likely were unhurt.
