KUCHING: Willie Mongin, the Puncak Borneo MP is inviting fellow Bidayuh leaders to put aside their political differences for now and strive to be a part of a bigger purpose in the service of their community and Sarawakians at large.
He said it would be better for all if Bidayuh leaders, both at state and national levels, whether they are in the opposition or in the ruling party, put a pause on politicking now that the election is over.
“Let us strengthen our character attributes, which will guide our zeal to make a difference in a complex world. Let us continue to lead our community to thrive in an environment that is truly multi-racial and multi-cultural. Let’s respect and promote diversity and functions through team spirit.
“Let us all serve with integrity, fairness, impartiality, honesty and truthfulness. Together, let us lead our community to become dynamic and adaptable individuals who are not afraid to think creatively and proactively.
“Let us work towards our common goal – to build our community and nation where all of us are winners, all of us have shelter, food and education,” he said at the Gawai gathering with the people at Kampung Bratan in Jalan Puncak Borneo here Sunday night.
Willie said how much Sarawak would be able to achieve in years to come would depend on its leaders.
“I acknowledge that political obstacles are standing in the way of Pakatan Harapan’s transformation agenda. I hope in this new Malaysia era, the PH government can get some cooperation from our colleagues on the other side of the political divide in Sarawak in order to move Sarawak and Malaysia forward,” he added.
Willie said on his part, he’s willing to work closely with fellow Sarawak leaders, be they Dayak, Chinese or Malay as well as community and social organisations involved in enhancing the social, economic and physical environment in Puncak Borneo and Sarawak as a whole.
For the benefit of the people in Puncak Borneo, he assured that he would work closely with all its assemblymen – Datuk Roland Sagah (Tarat), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil (Mambong) and Miro Simuh (Serembu).
He said he would also support any policy of the Sarawak government to move forward important infrastructural works, as long as they are done in a transparent manner, and benefiting Sarawakians as a whole.
