S Kalimantan inflation stands at 0.16 percent in May

BANJARBARU, S Kalimantan: The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded the South Kalimantan inflation, a combination of Banjarmasin and Tanjung, standed at 0.16 percent in May 2018, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

Head of BPS South Kalimantan Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Monday said that inflation in Banjarmasin was 0.14 percent while in Tanjung it reached 0.35 percent.

“The rate of cumulative inflation in Banjarmasin in May 2018 to December 2017 amounted to 0.69 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate at Tanjung 2.05 percent,” she said.

The highest inflation contribution in Banjarmasin are chicken egg, mackerel, chicken meat, onion, and papuyu (climbing perch) fish.

However, some commodities are also experiencing deflation and the highest are air transport, biscuits, household fuel, garlic and wet shrimp.

Meanwhile, at Tanjung, the highest price increase occurred in chicken meat, house rent, long bean, gold jewelry, and cassava leaves.

“Commodities that have fallen in price with the highest share of deflation included onion, garlic, hot chili, spinach and red pepper,” he said.

The Central Statistics Agency also noted, the consumer price index at 82 cities. 65 cities experienced inflation, and 17 deflation. The highest inflation in Tual City was 1.88 percent.
