July 11 pre-trial case management for RMAF man accused of rape

KUCHING: A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel accused of raping a 16-year-old girl will have his pre-trial case management on July 11.

Sessions Court judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad set the date for Alfian Shah Lauren Wahab after the accused claimed trial yesterday to the charge under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code.

He allegedly committed the offence at a hotel along Jalan Abell here between 2am and 3am on Aug 31, 2016.

If convicted, he faces an imprisonment term which may extend to 20 years, and whipping.

The court allowed Alfian bail of RM8,000 with one surety pending the date.

In the same courtroom, a man charged with causing grievous bodily harm had his pre-trial case management fixed on Aug 18.

Ambrose Christy Haron, 21, is accused of committing the offence on April 29 this year at the second floor of Flat 2 Taman Malihah against a 19 year-old male.

He is charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term up to 20 years and a fine, or whipping, upon conviction.
