Hashers celebrate Gawai with Rh Undi folk

Hashers are seen with longhouse folk during a photo call.

KAPIT: Rumah Undi at Nanga Bena, Baleh hosted some 50 hashers for Gawai Dayak recently.

The hashers were from Kuala Lumpur, Brunei, Miri, Kuching, and here.

The Rumah Undi village security and development committee welcomed the visitors with tuak and traditional ceremonies such as the miring, ngajat, and pantun, to demonstrate the culture of hospitality of the longhouse folk.

Visitors were also treated to traditional dishes such as pansuh and local snacks.

Hashers Leow Kok Wan and Miko Lim from Kuala Lumpur also presented angpows to 25 senior citizens aged 55 and above from the longhouse, as well as 24 packages for school children.

The 16-door Rumah Undi is around one hour’s journey by four-wheel-drive vehicle from here.
