MIRI: The Land and Survey Department has confirmed that a local company has rights to land located at the old Lutong airport site.

In a statement yesterday, the department said the company has the rights to develop the area as it is no longer under the Sarawak government.

“The old airport land located in Lutong area, now known as Lot 1363, Block 3, Miri District Concession

Land has been issued with a land title to a local developer company on March 30, 2017 to be developed,” said the statement.

The statement also said investigations on complaints about land dredging in the area have already been conducted.

“The result of the investigation found that land dredging activities in the area were site clean-up works and dredging of drainage systems by landowners,” said the statement.

The department was responding to complaints about digging and clearing in the area.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Miri Youth chief Steve Teo had lodged a police report on Monday to determine ownership of the land.
