Unemployed man claims trial to possessing terrorist-related items

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man pleaded not guilty in the High Court here yesterday on three counts of possessing items related to the Daesh terrorist group.

Muhamad Sani Mahdi Sahar, 25, made the plea before judge Datuk Azman Abdullah.

He was charged with possession of five pieces of shirts and other items related to terrorism at the entrance to Block 3, Apartment Desa Mentari and at house No B3-14-23, Apartment Desa Mentari, Jalan PJS 5/12, Petaling here, between 5.15 and 5.30 pm on Dec 23, 2017.

All the charges were made under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code whch provided an imprisonment for seven years, or fine, and shall also be liable to forfeiture of the affected items, if found guilty.

The court set July 13 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Norfaida Mohd Rashidee prosecuted, while lawyer Nurain Sakina Zakri represented Muhamad Sani. — Bernama
