22 RTP projects costing RM2.9 mln for Bekenu

MIRI: A total of 22 projects under the rural transformation programme (RTP) 2018 involving a total cost of RM2.9 million have been approved for Bekenu constituency.

Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus said most of the approved projects were for the purpose of upgrading infrastructure and facilities for schools and the community in the constituency.

Rosey, who is also Bekenu assemblywoman, said this when contacted by The Borneo Post regarding a briefing session on RTP 2018 implementation for her constituency at her service centre in Bekenu on Thursday.

“The approved school projects involved the upgrading of classroom and car parking compound at SMK Suai in Niah, installing the roof of SMK Bekenu in Bekenu and building a new gallery block for SMK Subis in Batu Niah,” she said.

On community facilities, Rosey said the approved projects involved the upgrading of community hall for Rh. Mentali, two temple buildings in Bekenu and Sepupok in Niah, Calvary Charismatic Church in Bekenu, the existing venue for ‘Makan Tahun’ event in Kampung Tanjung Bungai, Anjung Bestari Komuniti in Saeh as well as six halls for Kampung Tanjung Belipat, Kampung Sepupok, Kampung Muhibbah Ladang 3, Rumah Panjang Selan, Skim Rancangan Sepupok and Kampung Padang Kelulit.

Apart from these projects, approval was also given to building a new hall for Kampung Angus.

Other projects approved involving infrastructure improvements were building concrete drainage system for Kampung Kelapa in Bekenu, proper drainage system from Kampung Kelulit Mosque until Kuala Sibuti, retaining wall for Sungai Lumut of Kampung Rancah-Rancah, a new wooden bridge at

Rumah Panjang Danggang in Saeh and repairing the Bailey bridge of Rumah Panjang Alvion in Tiris.

In connection with these projects, Rosey thus reminded the community leaders to play a more proactive role in monitoring the implementation of the approved projects in their respective areas.

“Your commitments in this area are vital not only to ensure the projects are delivered according to schedule, but also the project quality followed specification,” she added.
