KUCHING: Hard work and commitment shown by police personnel here had resulted in drop in the district’s crime index in the first six months of this year.
District police chief ACP Ng Ah Lek said Kuching’s crime index fell 15.76 per cent from January to June this year compared to the same period last year.
“There has been a drop of 128 cases, from 812 last year to 684 this year, for the period of January to June.
“The solving rate for cases has increased from 34.73 per cent last year to 35.96 per cent this year, while the number of arrests so far this year is 376 compared to 441 over the same period last year,” he said during a monthly police parade here yesterday.
Ng went on to attribute the decrease in the crime index to the commitment shown by his personnel combined with various crime prevention measure undertaken by the various police departments.
He reminded his men to always maintain a high level of discipline when on duty and to never break the law or accept bribes.
During the assembly, Ng presented certificates of appreciation to officers and personnel for their outstanding service in the force.
