The company had approved applications from 88 dealers for the upgrading exercise, which equates to 80 per cent of the total 109 dealers targeted.

KLANG: Proton Holdings Bhd expects 109 of its dealers to upgrade their facilities from 1S (sales) or 2S (service and spare parts) to a full-fledged one-stop centre of 3S or 4S (sales, service, spare parts and spray paint) by year-end.

Vice president of sales and marketing Abdul Rashid Musa said as of yesterday, the company had approved applications from 88 dealers for the upgrading exercise, which equates to 80 per cent of the total 109 dealers targeted.

“With the upgrading exercise in place, we are confident of providing a better sales and service experience for our customers.

“We need better skilled technicians to service customers as our cars are now becoming more sophisticated with better features,” he told reporters after attending the launch of Proton’s new 3S outlet by Proton’s chief executive officer, Dr Li Chunrong at Jalan Kapar yesterday.

Proton has 150 dealers nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak.

Abdul Rashid also said Proton had recorded a steady 50 per cent month-on-month growth in sales ever since the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was zero-rated from June 1.

Commenting on Proton’s year-end target, he said it was still too early to comment, as it depended on the new rate of Sales and Services Tax (SST) to be implemented in September.

Meanwhile, the new 3S outlet operated by Pantai Bharu Corporation Sdn Bhd, serves as a one-stop centre for customer sales, service and spare parts and is equipped with 12 service bays and eight hoists, with seating for 35 customers at any given time. — Bernama
