KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resource Ministry is awaiting an interim report by a task force formed to look into alleged misappropriation of funds from the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF).

Human Resource Minister M Kula Segaran said the ministry hoped that the report would be completed within 30 days in order to begin a follow-up report to look into the alleged misappropriation of RM300 million from the fund.

“The task force is preparing a report to look into some of the purchase contracts and the awards that have been done (by HRDF).

“Let them do their job,” Kula Segaran told reporters during the HRDF Aidilfitri ‘open house’ at Wisma HRDF here yesterday.

A five-member independent governance oversight committee was formed during the HRDF Annual General Meeting recently to review the HRDF amid allegations of misappropriation of funds.

Previously, Kula Segaran said the committee had been given the mandate to assist the HRDF board of directors by reviewing all aspects of the board’s governance framework, hence ensuring that it functioned effectively and efficiently.

Meanwhile, evidence linked to the misappropriation of the funds belonging to HRDF had been submitted to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to facilitate an investigation.
